A2DS Provides AI Solutions to Asian Eye Institute's EyeScan Program

Since 2016, Asian Eye Institute of the has established and run a large scale eye screening program called EyeScan in order to provide a wider and eye care in Philippines. According to the Institute,

EyeScan is a pre-screening service to detect signs of sight-threatening eye problems like cataract, retinal diseases, glaucoma and cornea and external diseases.
A trained technician takes digital images of the front and back parts of the eye using a screening device. The images are then uploaded and read by certified ophthalmic image readers. Patients will receive a report that shows the images of the eyes, findings and recommendation on whether they need further evaluation by an eye specialist.

For 4 years in service, EyeScan has provided eye screening for thousands of patients, creating significant improvement of eye care in the local areas. In the beginning of 2020, A2DS is partnering with AEI to provide mass eye screening with higher speed and accuracy thanks to new AI tool.
